Eric Dwyer has been our Youth Minister since March 1, 2008. He came to serve with us immediately after he graduated from Ozark Christian College, which is located in Joplin, MO. In December of 2008 he married Sarah, who graduated from Ozark Christian College with an Associates Degree in Christian Ministry and has since earned a Bachelors Degree in Human Services from Lincoln Christian University. An Eagle Scout, Eric hails from Topeka, KS and is an avid fan of the KU Jayhawks. He is actively involved in the community, serving in a mentoring capacity with the local schools.

Sarah is from Iowa, but lived many years in the Philippines, where her parents served as missionaries. She is employed by a local bank and serves as a volunteer in our ministry to youth.

They continue their ministry through fostering children in the area.

Children's Ministry Coordinator

Mary Bettenhausen

Mary Bettenhausen assumed the role of Children’s Ministry Coordinator in December, 2017.

She and husband Scott made the decision to move to Mountain Home when they retired in June of 2017.  It was a decision that they prayed on every single day.  Through prayer they believed that God motivated them to follow their decision.  They felt God had something big planned for them.

Mary worked in the children’s ministry at their previous place of worship.  She loves the LORD and loves learning the WORD. She was inspired by the enthusiasm of the children who spoke freely about Jesus, asking questions she sometimes could not answer.  She was encouraged to volunteer for VBS at CCMHAR and decided that she would work in the children’s ministry, at whatever capacity.

She loves sharing God’s word with the children, as they grow in the word so does she.  She feels that children who are exposed to the Bible grow up to love God.   She is excited and prayful each day knowing she can make a difference in the lives of children.  She looks forward to inspiring the children we serve at CCMHAR.  With her experience  working with children and special needs adults and education in Therapeutic Recreation, she knows she can make a difference.

Scott and Mary share the same values and love for the LORD and the Bible.  He is patient and kind.  He supports Mary in everything she does.   He loves children yet he still knows how to interact and instruct youth in a positive manner.  With God and the support of our volunteers and the congregation, the possibilities are endless.

We are grateful for this opportunity to work in the children’s ministry, ultimately working for Christ.

Preacher's Wife

Joyce Rhoads

Joyce Rhoads began her duties as the church’s part-time secretary in August 2014. She assumes the role that has been filled on a volunteer basis by Arlene Dixon the last four years. The transition in personnel will also mark an expansion of duties and an increase in the number of days our office will be open. Joyce will be in the office four hours every weekday. Her duties will include all the current elements of office management. But she will also publish the weekly bulletin and this monthly newsletter, tasks that have been done by the ministry staff.

Her education was in the field of nutrition and fitness, physical education and child and family studies. Her career in recent years has focused on the administrative duties of a behavioral health concern and a shelter for women and children subjected to domestic violence. Having managed the office with a staff of three ministers and five administrators for a congregation twice our size, Joyce possesses the skills to effectively fulfill the duties. She also has the personality and integrity of character to represent and serve the congregation well. She and her husband, Ken, have been an active part of our church family for many years. We welcome Joyce now as an employee.
